Five generations of Funeral Service to Lewis County

On October 8, 1898 James T. Coder founded the Coder Furniture and Undertaking in LaBelle, MO. His son James A. Coder, Sr. opened a second location in Lewistown in 1913, the James A. Coder Furniture and Undertaking. After a fire destroyed his home in 1943, Mr. Coder built the Coder Funeral Home which was one of the first buildings in the area built specifically for a funeral home. In 1951 Charles L. and Margaret Coder-Arnold, Sr. began managing the Lewistown business, purchasing it in 1957 and building a new facility in Canton in 1965.

Today, Charles L. and Nancy Arnold, Jr. and their son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Carla Arnold, own and operate Arnold's Funeral Homes in Canton and Lewistown, Mo.
